Dark Light LRP was originally founded in 1994 by members of the Roleplaying Society at Derby University.

We organised roleplaying events in Derby for 3 years, including fortnightly games of Vampire:The Masquerade, Highlander, and Outlands (a high-fantasy LRP) with events varying in size from 10 people to over 60. Dark Light's profile was raised by local sponsorship and press coverage, which surprisingly painted a reasonably sane view of LRP.
In 1997, Dark Light Enterprises came to a close in Derby

In the late part of 2001 it re-formed in Brighton as Dark Light LRP. Since then we re-established the regular Vampire games, and have run several games of our low-fantasy horror game "Dark Times" and our newest game "Brighton Below" based on the Neil Gaiman book and TV series "Neverwhere.

The Vampire games came to a close in the summer of 2007 due to a number of reasons, but both Brighton Below and Dark Times continue as occasional events. Further new events are also in the planning stages

We also organise bespoke Murder Mystery evenings and other such events upon request through our sister company "The Butler Did It". We have appeared at events on behalf of companies such as Royal & SunAlliance, the Brighton media company Victoria Real, Designate and most recently the central library in Worthing

"The Butler Did It" also performs murder mystery evenings for smaller occasions such as birthday parties, anniversaries and other functions
